MY VIEWS ON “ARUNDATHI”

I don’t know where the mistake is, but why everybody (including my brother whose favourite movies are very selective) liked this particular movie & why I don’t. And if you really like the movie or haven’t seen the movie yet, please don’t read this.

I presume Every good movie should have a plot, story, Cast, Music, dialogues & Screen play..the other things Songs, lyrics, visual effects are only chosen to support the above items. But this movie fails in all sections.

Plot & the story: Since, it is a horror movie, like all other horror movies it is having an evil or demon who was killed & locked waiting to be freed without which it is pleasant. Some ignorant person opens the lock & alas the visual effects start. There’s a secret weapon to kill the demon, a threat to the beloved one of the main character and so on…& so on…blah blah blah.

But this was a bit different or may be to be precise more confusing. In this movie, The demon cannot free itself since it is locked, but can create havoc & plague(in the flash back) and even create situations to control the scenario. Then, my doubt was why it cannot free itself in the flash back itself or else let us presume that it cannot change scenario but only because of its existence there is a havoc, then why there is no sign of any plague in the present…only the building in which it was locked was damned, but not the city as shown in the flash back.

The dance teacher who teaches arundathi the secret dance dies without telling her the moves. But, still arundathi’s expertise in the dance is thought-provoking.

The adventures of the invincible shiyaji shinde…(there should be a limit on how may times a human can defy death..) are really very very funny.

However, the revelation of the present arundathi that she is a re-incarnation is good & seems to be OK.

CAST: I should have said “NO COMMENTS”, but it is not going to cost me…, I’ll review this part also. The cast except Anushka, Sonu sood , Manorama & Shiyaji Shinde, other characters doesn’t have the minutest importance. Anushka did a good performance in the flash back but in the present scenario it seems she lacks the experience of acting, the fact that is. It is very surprising to see manorama as a middle aged woman even though the story demands her age to be atleast 85. and an unsolved mystery is what happens to the demon’s mother’s ghost after the demon has got its freedom.

MUSIC: I am sure that I don’t want to waste my time on this.

Dialogues: Except the heart pounding dialogues of Ravi kumar for Sonu Sood.. the dialogues doesn’t create an impact on the audience. And for God’s sake somebody tell me what “Bommali” means. The dialogues of manorama are really very very boring and will force the audience out of the theatre.

Screen play: This is the only section in which my feeling is “GOOD”.

Visual Effects: The visual effects are appealing, but every time the demon yells we have to see the same graphics of the building which caused boredom. The Graphics at the dance sequence are very good for me, but the dance was not at all appealing.

My overall rating for the movie will be not more than 2 for 5.
